Festival of Flowers

Portland, Oregon

Every year the Festival of Flowers aims to transform Pioneer Courthouse Square, Portland’s living room, into an interactive, botanical display. Inspired by Portland’s tattoo culture, Lango Hansen creatively enlivened the plaza through “ink.” Nearly 20,000 annuals in 4″ pots were arranged across the space to recreate the classic heart tattoo, complete with flowers and flames. The bright colors and imagery drew people to the square, where they could not only interact with the display, but also receive a temporary tattoo reflecting Rose City pride.
